Charles Edward & Kate Bates (Clark) Ross lived in this home a block south of the Square after their 1885 marriage. Charles was on the Normal School faculty as Instructor in Drawing, Penmanship, Calisthenics & Bookkeeping, 1880-1900. He was also Secretary of the Board of Regents, 1895-97. He left the Normal School to enroll at the American School of Osteopathy then moved to Ft. Smith, AR when he graduated in 1902.
