(Page 1) W.W.I.87.47 England Oct 26, 1918. Dear Dr. George:- Your letter to the boys "over here" reached me O.K. and I enjoyed it very much. I wish to thank the Kirksville Rotary Club for adding my name to the list of Kirksville boys to be remembered even though it has been several years since I left there. I am looking forward to the next letter with much interest. The organization to which I have been assigned is located in a small town near the city of Bristol. We are nicely located and are trying to do our part to put an end to Kairserism and autocrasy. It has been our privilege to see a large part of this country. That I shall not attempt to describe for I know you have toured through a large portion of these countries. It is a very beautiful spot but I cannot see where it compared with our own "good old U.S.A." Have not seen a single one of the boys from Kirksville but hope (Page 2) that the opportunity may present itself when we arrive in France. It would surely seem like old times to meet even one of them. You know the slogan of the boys in France is "Heaven, Hell or Hoboken before Christmas." Things are looking mighty good over there and while Hoboken is a pretty strong statement, still, I believe the Huns will have had enough of it by that time. They surely fear the Americans. Or my life is certainly agreeing with me. Since enlisting something like eleven months ago, I have gained seventeen pounds. I never felt better in my life. Remember me kindly to Sam Ellison. You, who must remain at home, are doing a wonderful work and I assure you we boys certainly appreciate it. With best wishes and again thanking you for adding me to your list, I remain Yours in (Phi Lambda Epsilon) Francis Karl Grassle Sgt. Maj. F.K. Grassle, 8v3 Aero Sqdn., Amer. E.F.
