-- because the U. S. Marines are always 
“first in” when the war bugles blow.

They are trained as infantry, artillery, 
machine-gun companies and naval gunners. 
They man the torpedo-defense and anti-aircraft guns on 
battleships.

They are always ready for expeditionary duty and 
for the defense of naval advance bases.

Ever since 1798 the U. S. Marines have played the 
part of “Minute men” -- whenever or wherever America 
needed them, on land or sea.
