(Page 1) ARMY AND NAVY YOUNG MEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION "WITH THE COLORS" YMCA March 31, 1918. Battery A, 342 H.A. Camp Funston, Kan. Prof. N. J. Bray, Kirksville, Mo. Dear Prof. Bray, They kept us busy at detention camp and I didn't do much but drill and sleep. It will be much more pleasant here in the barracks. I am very well pleased with my assignment for it is big guns that we deal with in the 342nd H.A. I came to the barracks Thursday and was not assigned until Friday afternoon. Saturday morning they gave the new boys a little drill HELP YOUR COUNTRY BY SAVING. WRITE ON BOTH SIDES OF THIS PAPER. (Page 2) with the gas mask. I.K. Ingman is in this regiment and is the only K.S.N.S. boy here as far as I know. He left with the Macon group. I have never seen McNeely. I understand he stopped off at Fort Riley. Our issue of the Index came while I was at detention camp but I have seen two since I left Macon for I borrowed one from John Childers. I enjoyed reading both issues. I believe the Index is a little more interesting for me in camp than out. Please have my next issue sent here. Fraternally yours Claude N. Dye
