(Page 1) W.W.I.76.47 Philadelphia Navy Yard Philadelphia, Pa. Barracks 220 July 6th, 1918 Dear Ed- I am sending by insured parcel post a padlock from the President Lincoln which was recently sunk by a German sub-marine. This lock was obtained last summer while she was being repaired for service so she could be taken over by the U.S. (Page 2) She was interned on the Atlantic coast at that time. I wish you to place it in the Historical Museum. I mailed it to Mr Fair a few days ago but it returned so I will send it to you this time. Wishing you all the succes [sic] your efforts deserve in making the old K.S.N.S. a progressive and patriotic institution at a time second only in importance to that of '76. Sincerely yours, W. B. Fell
