(Page 1) AMBULANCE COMPANY No. 105 27th DIVISION Camp Wadsworth Spartansburg S.C. February 14-1918 Dear Miss Lola, Just a few lines to let you people know how much well we are situated in Camp life. I know that your father will enjoy hearing about the good conditions we have here. We arrived her on the morning of September Tenth and it took us most of the day to get our equipment transported from the railroad to our company location. Consequently we did not get our tents put up for the night, but bunked the best we could in the mess shack and under it. They had a large wooden mess shack well built for us, with a kitchen in the rear. It is about a hundred and fifty feet long by thirty feet wide, so we were all able to get under cover nicely. The next day we got the ground graded and put up our tents and began life in camp. It was (Page 2) [no text] (Page 3) AMBULANCE COMPANY No. 105 27th DIVISION no longer then before got wooden floors in and sides up about five feet, with a frame work above to stretch our tent over. Also we do not have to use lanterns and candles in our tents so we have electric lights in each, so you see we have all the comforts of home, even to [sic] shower baths. We have a nice terrace between our tents and the street, but as yet have been unable to get any grass to grow on it, but will try again when the rainy season is over. We were put down here for the winter as it would be warm for us, but we felt the cold quite a lot here. It got down below zero, and we had quite a little snow, but with our stoves in the tents we managed to keep very comfortable. I was up home on a ten day furlough the last of January, and it sure did feel good to get a change from camp life. Though one almost (Page 4) [no text] (Page 5) AMBULANCE COMPANY No. 105 27th DIVISION forgets how to act after being around with just a crowd of men all the time! I was out for a dinner one night, and I did not know how I would make our, but found that my sister wall came our night, so I dont [sic] believe I have quite forgotten my table manners. I have been quite fortunate down here in getting invitiations out. There are two Osteopaths practicing here, and though then I have met some dandy people. He graduated from the Philadelphia school, but know Dr. Sarah Moore, who used to be with you and graduated the class ahead of me. They are brother and sister and neither are married, and are both mighty fine, though I think she is a much better doctor than he is. I dont [sic] know of anything more of interest so will close with best regards to all. Sincerely your friend, Eber K.I. Peck (Page 6) [no text] (Page 7) Miss Dola Caldwell 216 S.
