(Page 1) W.W.I.67.47 Houdelaincourt France Jan. 26 - 19. Dear Folks at home:- Well I havent heard from you for over a week. So will write anyway. I am feeling fine now but have been sick was down with the flue [sic]. For over a week it almost cut me down. I guess we are haveing [sic] some weather like you are haveing [sic] in the states now. It shure [sic] is getting (Page 2) [no text] (Page 3) 2 cold here had been that way for quite a little while but it is dry and we all are glad to see it this way for when ever it warms up it begans [sic] to rain and than [sic] it is a fright for us to drill. It is snowing tonight the ground is getting quite white. it is the first snow we have seen in France. Well I worked in the kitchen yesterday (Page 4) [no text] (Page 5) 3 and today, so I am shure [sic] filled up. I just wish you could take a peek in one of our kitchens you would shure [sic] would think it was some sight to see the stuff it takes. I cut up one third quarter of beef. (150lbs) into steak for dinner yesterday. and one front quarter for boil todays dinner. Tonight I sliced two (Page 6) [no text] (Page 7) 4 sides of bacon for breakfast. peal [sic] a two bu. sack of potatoes for one meal. That is for one company only, so you can guess how much it takes to feed the entire. E.7. it shure [sic] will look funny to me when I get home and see a little dish of things sitting on the table. one thing shure [sic] you will half [sic] to exchange them for (Page 8) [no text] (Page 9) 5 a while when I get there. I shure [sic] would like to be getting there soon. But I think I will be in the service a year if we dont hurry up and do something. Some more of the boys are leaving in the morning for their 7 days furlows [sic] but I dont think I want any. It takes to [sic] much money for me. I can (Page 10) spend all I get without going away. You wanted to know if I was writing to Harvey. No I havent wrote to any of them since I left Dodge. and dont entend [sic] to. Well as it it [sic] getting cool here I guess I will close and go home and go to bed as tomorrow is Monday and will half [sic] to drill. am shure [sic] getting tired of it just the same old thing over & over again.
