Pretty dead I suppose scence [sic] all the young fellows have left. But we will pay up for lost time when we get back and here is hoping it wont be very long altho [sic] France isn't so bad. I like better than I did when I first came over. have learnt quite a bit of French. but think I can under stand united states much better. Ha Ha I have bin [sic] transferd out of the 116 supply train where I was in to the 314 supply. I like it much better where I am up back of the front lines (Page 2) 2 only a short distance I can here [sic] the large guns real plain - and see lots of air battles there has bin [sic] two or three german air plains over tonight. but haven't dropped any bombs very close it makes a fellow a little bit shakey for a while but he soon gets [illegible text] to it it sounds just like a [illegible text] concert. I have never received a letter from you yet don't know what can be the matter. I have received several from [illegible text] and Irene. maby [sic] you haven't rec. any of my letters. I have wrote several but you will get them some time I guess. I will probly get some from you when my mail is transferd [sic] from the 116 to where I am now. how is grove and the girls tell them hello and that I send my love and that I may eat new years dinner with all of you yet. DATE I have never heard from alpha yet but it a great wonder I have got any mail at all. For I have bin [sic] moving around so much but am settled down now so will get it pretty regular now I think. I wrote to Pappa and Blanch last night. how is grandma and the rest I wrote Jessie a letter but dont know weather she got it or not. tell them I send my best regards. Lee is over here some wheres by. this time sure would love to run across him. some of the boys that was from Iowa in the July draft and was in camp [illegible text] was put in the 116th before I left there, one boy from Fort dodge that worked in the shoe factory in KV his Father ran the white swan restaurant. [illegible text] they called him Grove. hows him I guess. there is a fellow in the same co that I am in by the name of Loyd Daves from [illegible text] that goes with Dr. Quins daughter. I guess you know her she is a school teacher (Page 6) if you here [sic] from Glenn send me his address. I guess I wrote and told you about seeing Billie Winn over here. Only got to talk to him a short while but he is the same old bill. Well sis as I think I have wrote about all that I can think of that I can write.
