My dear mother. after so long a time I will try and answer your most kind and welcome letter. which I have received I should of wrote before now, but have bin [sic] to [sic] lazy to write when I did not have any thing [sic] to do, so now being that the war is over, and no fighting to do (Page 2) (Page 3) 2 I will try and answer them, well your letters found everything over here. roring [sic] to go and I hope that when this comes at hand it will find you well I am glad that everything such as the crops are as good as they are this year, how about the Turkeys [sic] better have 3 or 4 good fat ones Christmas for I am liable to be there to help eat dinners about that time (Page 4) (Page 5) 3 yes what the papers say over there is all true, we shure [sic] got the kiser's [sic] goat at last and it dident [sic] take long, but it did take some hard work and fighting dad was saying that he would like to be over here withe [sic] me for a while Tell him at some times I dont [sic] expect that he would of stayed long ha. ha.
