(Page 1) Some where in France November 4, 1918 My Dear Loving Mother:- I have received several letters from you and the rest of the folks, but I have been so busy that I haven't had time to write. This leaves me feeling as well as usual. You ask me if I had ever been up to the front, yes we have made several trips to the front. Every body in my company is still here and not any hurt, allthough [sic] there were lots of shells bursting around our heads. Don't worry about us. All the boys are still raging to get to Berlin, that is all their talk. I guess I will get to see Leroy and Ras. Their [sic] are in camp here where we are at now. Tell all the folks I said hello and just keep the Home Fires burning and we boys will do the rest. It is twelve o'clock at night while I am writing these few lines. I broke my watch and pen so that is the reason I am writing with a pencil. Mamma tell Mattie and Carrie I will write as soon as I have time. Tell Ruth and the rest hello. I will close, from your son, Corpal Marvin Del. Appleton P.S. Tell Mr. and Mrs. Givens hello pray for me. with love Good Bye. (Page 2) November 4, 1918 W.W.I.45.47
