(Page 1) Sept 16, 1918 Dear Folks I have not writen [sic] you lately have not had the time I suppose you aready know the good news, their [sic] wont [sic] be much to tell as you can read the news in the papers. about the big drive. Our division was right in the thickest of is. at this time I have not heard any thing [sic] as to fali [sic] of the Adair Co & KV [text illegible] they were not very many killed at all, & not so very many wounded. The Germans did not put up any reistance [sic] at all it was to [sic] much of a suprise to them they just warned & run we sure captured a lot of prisoners most of them seemed to be glad to be captured the next day I went over & took a look at the German [text illegible] they were [text illegible] bulit to last most of the dug net [sic] [text illegible] were made out of cement & way down in the ground When the Germans left they sure left in a hurry they never took any thing at all German supplies are sealed every where. We have moved our Head Quarters & will renew the drive Started our artilery is shooting over a little this morning the air is generaly full of air planes I have not seen her we (Page 2) German plane & our aviators brought him down I think we have their goat, we are about 3 miles behind the lines now & dont [sic] see so very much. every time the army moves we move dont [sic] know where Earl is now. every body has all the souviners [sic] they can carry I have a few, the last day & a half we have been in a little town that is about all shot to pieces the night our Boys went over the life it had rained & their [sic] was mud everywhere it made it slipery [sic] for the big guns to move & every thing else but every thing kept on the go, after I get home I can tell you the story Ray Martin Head Quarter Troops 89 Div AEF APO 761
