The green fields surrounded by the hedges looks pretty when seen from a hill top. I did not especially like the Engilsh cities after the newness had worn off but I believe I could like the country and the villages forever. The little shapes, great walled in estates, and churches old as our country, and covered with ivy make a pretty picture. It all reminds me of Irving's writing about England. Pvt.
