William Fred Englehart, a Kirksville real estate and insurance agent who also served as deputy tax collector, was elected Adair County Tax Collector in 1896 and held that post for four years. After leaving office, he studied osteopathy then moved to St. Louis to establish his practice. William, his children Viola and Leon, and his second wife Fannie (Roberts) are pictured here at the entrance to their home located at 301 North High Street.
