1:32 Interior of Unidentified Drug Store

Public Deposited

Kirksville Photos by Drake, 1893: The Clifford Henry Album (MUSDP K1)

There is nothing in this photo to help identify which of Kirksville's drug stores this might be. This is not the fairly new Henry Drug Store but it could be the old building that burned in March 1890 (the man behind the counter resembles B.F. Henry). It is more likely one of the other drug stores in town: W. G. Fout, 105 N. Elson; J. I. Fowler, 113 N. Elson; McKeehan Bros., 108 W. Harrison, Smith & Dunkin, 122 N. Franklin, & William T. Stephenson, 102 S. Elson. Comparing this shot with pictures of city drug stores published circa 1900 is inconclusive; a lot of remodeling can be done in seven years.
